Karen O'Lone-Hahn

Karen O'Lone-Hahn lives in Kemblesville, Pennsylvania. She writes, "I started painting in 1985.  My mother was dying of cancer and painting from an old family photograph was my way of hanging on.  I could only afford to buy black and white paint.  It was a good thing, because I didn't know how to paint with color anyway.  Around 1991, I began to experiment with color in some landscapes.  I started watching Helen Wycke on PBS and learned how to mix colors from her.  Instead of landscapes, I started painting memories and visions from my childhood. I now sometimes paint family, friends, and events from my life."
